How to get to Stockholm?

Besides long range swimming races and detour roads there are four main ways how you can get to Stockholm.

# 1 is to use the fastest and the most comfortable way-to travel by plane. The biggest airport in Swiss is situated in Stockholm and is called Stockholm -Arlanda airport. Stockholm-Arlanda airport is 42 km from the city, to the south-east of Uppsala. The airport has 5 terminals; the annual passenger flow is more than 17 million people. The airport is one of the three main hubs in Scandinavian Airlines System. It is important to mention that Sweden has its own airlines- Skyway. If to travel from Stockholm to another city it will be less pricy to buy it at the airport than to buy it in advance.

#2 is a very classy, comfortable but slower way to get to Stockholm – train. The schedule and prices you can find out at the Stockholm railway station's web sites. Young people who are under 26 years and pensioners who are more than 60 get a discount. It is important to emphasize that you add to the discount group yourself and not wait to be asked. Tickets can be bought in the railway ticket office, special SC boxes or directly from a conductor, the last way is the most expensive. If you choose to buy it from a SC machine you will save some money but then you need to know some useful phrases like "ungomar" which means young people, "vuxen" that means an adult and "barn" means a child. Young people and pensioners need to bear in mind that if they buy a ticket in less than 24 hours’ notice, the discount can be really essential. This type is called "sistaminuten".

#3 is the cheapest and the most disturbing way to travel - by bus. There is the main bus system that is called SweBus. But, besides the SweBus there are several different companies that are even cheaper. The hours that you will spend in a bus depend on the city you are going from. All information can be achieved at the bus station. If you entered Sweden and you are still looking for the cheaper way to get to the city, simply ask how to get to the place that you are looking for and the usually nice workers will give you every possible option. Buses, likewise, have youth discounts but they limit till 25 years old. They also have discounts in working days, usually from Monday till Thursday.

#4 is the most interesting, romantic and extravagant way to get to Stockholm - by ferry. The ship loving tourist will have a possibility to enjoy almost all the country on their way to Stokcholm, the only problem is that the ferry goes only to Helsinki.

Anyway, if you have enough time and you are going simply to enjoy your vacation- ferry will be the best way to go. The cheapest ride is 45 euros, counting that it is the four-passenger cabin on the lower deck. Of course there are various discounts; again, you just have to look for the word "sistaminuten". The majority consider ferry the cheapest transportation but it is important to remember that you will also pay for food and countless diversity programs on your way to Stockholm.

So choose the most confortable way and come to Sweden and its wonderful capital, Stockholm.
