When browsing through travel guides and brochures of the capital city of Sweden - Stockholm, one might notice that people underline the Vasa Museum as one of the must-visit places among top museums in Stockholm. In fact, the Vasa Museum of Stockholm is considered to be the most famous museum in the entire Scandinavian region.

The Vasa museum is a real ship that sailed the seas in the XVII century. Enormous in sizes and incredibly beautiful, this ship sank in 1628 during maiden voyage. The Vasa museum was built in between 1626-1628 by his majesty king Adolphus of Sweden.

Scandinavia’s most visited museum was constructed around one of the world’s foremost art treasures. It is the only preserved ship in Scandinavia and in the whole world from the 1600s.

Although it was supposed to become the most important and representative ship in the country, it swam only several miles and due to the numerous mistakes in construction, it sank. The Vasa was under the water for 333 years.

The ship was delicately reconstructed; it has 3 floors that let you overlook it from different sides. Here you will find crew’s skeletons, patriotic merchandises, pictures, that personify the king and his family and several cannons

The museum is a real treasure for marine history lovers. After all, it is the only preserved ship of the XVII century. Diving gear, dramatic history of sailing and lifting of the flagship could spark interest, especially of the male side.

In addition, museum presents tours through reconstructed ship cabins of the Middle Ages, numerous ship models and a movie about heroic crusade of Gustavo Vasa. One of the funniest things to be done during your visit to the museum is to play a game, which is called “Save Vasa”. It is a little computer game that allows each visitor try to change the project so the ship would sail at least 5 miles more. Unfortunately, it has one end: after the ship projects 2/3 hoaxes, Vasa goes under the water and the king commits you to quartering for building off-the-line flagship. This leads to a conclusion that Vasa ship was doomed from the start.

Today Vasa museum is a bright attraction of the capital city. According to the surveys, by now, it has been visited by more than 25 million visitors. It is not only enormous, but incredibly beautiful. Its outlook was thoughtfully designed to create one of the most luxurious ships in the world. This famous name was also given to the hotel that is called Hustav Vasa Hotel. When staying there it will remind you of the beautiful ship and the heroic crusade.

The museum has nine large exhibits, a gift shop, and even a first-class restaurant, where one can try most delicious marine-style meals.
