Stockholm is often called “Beauty on water” and without any doubt, it is pure truth. The city comprises of one-third water, one-third green lands, and one-third metropolitan area. Stockholm is a repertoire of various elements combined together to feature a capital and travel destination like no other.
As Stockholm is situated on the islands, it is obvious that water takes a major part in sport life of the city. There are numerous underwater expeditions, boat explorations, snorkeling and sea-diving activities in Stockholm but simple swimming still takes a dominating part.
Stockholm is one of a very few cities in Europe where each can swim without any risk to his/her health. It is proud of its beaches that are situated right in the heart of the city. As weather is warm and sunny in summer, locals and tourists enjoy themselves in warm waters of the sea. It is believed that most the percentage of Swedish workers decrease dramatically, as everyone want to go abroad or at least rest on beautiful and clean beaches of the city.
One of the best beaches in Stockholm is believed to be Brunnviksbadet. It is situated in the south of Stockholm and is considered to be the dearest place for students because it is situated near Stockholm University. Nevertheless, you shouldn’t be a student to lie on the sun on Brunnviksbadet beach. Simply take a subway and go out at University station.
The most popular beach on the northern side of the city is called Ekhagenbadet. The beach is very popular between tourists and non-Sweden. It has beautiful landscapes and clear water. Just as to most of beaches in the city, you can get there by subway.
For those who didn’t bring any swimming suit or simply don’t like them there is a wonderful open bathing area in Stockholm – Saltsjöbadens. It has both women and men nude beaches that are separated by one more beach.
If you cannot leave your four-leg friend alone, Stockholm has a great solution for both of you- a dog beach. It is situated in Långholmen and is called Hundstranden. The place is perfect for you and your dog. Here you can play, sunbath and swim as much as you like.
