Stockholm is an all-known pedestrian city. Here, cars are not as popular as in the rest of Europe. Sport and health are very popular and take dominating role in the life of the city.
Just as every European citizen, Stockholm people like to go on picnics, walk, run and of course take long distance hikes. Stockholm and its surrounding area have many fine hiking trails that go through the picturesque lands of untouched nature. It can be a day tour or week-long ones that will leave lasting impression on all of the tourists.
One of the most popular hiking tours in Stockholm is called Sörmlandsleden. This trail is one of the longest in the surrounding area; it extends for more than 1 000 km to one of the most beautiful southern places which is called Sormland County. The tour will take you through the marvelous valleys that are filled with multicolored flowers, tall trees and little fresh water lakes. The best time to hike in this place is spring-fall.
One more interesting tour that goes from Stockholm is called Upplandsleden. This tour will take you to the north of Stockholm to the 350 km of Uppland County. The tour will lead you to one of the most picturesque places in the nearby of Stockholm- Lake Malaren and all-known Dalalven River. The trail ends in Uppsala, where you can take a train or hike your way back to Stockholm.
Apart from long-distance hiking tours, there is one that cannot be omitted; it is called Stockholm hiking tour.
