The Saint Nicolaus Church also features just one single tower and breathes Gothic architectural sense through and through although it does have some Baroque elements which may be explained by a remodeling done during the early 1700′s.
It is also surrounded by other buildings and landmarks that have as much historic and cultural prestige as the Storkyrkan does. These include the Nobel Library, the Stortorget Square, the Nobel Museum, the Swedish Academy and the Stockholm Palace.
However, the interesting features of the Saint Nicolaus Church in Stockholm is by no means limited to its facade and outer features. Inside the Storkyrkan, historic, religious and cultural treasures have long been housed and frequently visited by tourists and sightseers. The wooden sculpture called Saint George and the Dragon in which Saint George on horseback slays a dragon is the most popular treasure housed in this 13th century church. With it is also housed a 17th century copy of the oldest known image depicting the city of Stockholm. This painted image of Stockholm is called V
